Date added: 03/28/2011 Does the class C block count in SEO?

If you value you SEO then maybe having baclinks from a diverse range of network blocks is a wise choice.

I know many SEO’s that generate backlinks from various websites that they have administrative control over and often; they are hosted from on the same network block.

Each time I have spoken to the SEO’s, they have all said they found the backlinks worked very well and views of scepticism arise at the mere suggestion that multiple linking from the same network block may be seen as spam in the eyes of the all seeing search engines!

Their argument often states that some of the sites have unique IP’s and many websites share the same IP so they can’t see the harm. But the class C part of the IP address will indicate the network block and when you think about it, what are the chances of naturally obtaining many backlinks from websites all around the world and then finding that out of coincidence, they are all have the same class c block?

Well if I can see that this may be spam, im sure Google can see it!

But why do these backlinks still appear to work?

In my opinion, there may be a threshold of amounts of backlinks allowed from the same class C or a ratio trigger? Im not sure but to be safe, I will be keeping these sorts of backlinks to a minimum!
