Can RSS help SEO?
With internet marketing in London, its not enough to simply build a website with half a dozen useful pages on any given subject and expect it to rank well in the search engines. You must take a proactive approach to your website and plan well ahead in advance as to what kind of strategy or strategies you will be using for your search engine optimisation campaign. Fresh and regular content should be displayed as often as possible so the major search engines are aware that your site is active and that you have something new to say! You don’t have to create a new page everyday. Instead, update your site news (if your CMS or content management system has the functionality) and make sure the site news is dated! This will help the search engines understand how recent the news post was created. Some suggest that once the article or blog is compete, you should ping the page but so far, I have not found this to be any more advantages to my projects but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work! Also, some would then create an RSS xml file and create a channel to distribute amongst various aggregators which will allow other websites to display the content on their websites along with a back link to your site. This sounds great as it can bring extra traffic and links but unfortunately, if a site has a higher PR than yours, it may get the bonus for the content and your rankings may suffer as a result of Google not giving brownie points for fresh relevant content! Also, you will have no control over what kind of websites are linking back to yours and if they are a random mixture of irrelevant banned sites then this will also do little to help your internet marketing London based efforts! My advice is to keep writing about your industry and try to make the content helpful. Also slowly build your links manually using authority websites using a properly formatted anchor link (make sure the anchor text is varied!)
